Privacy policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
Plainledger is a reading site. It has no accounts, no comment forms and no newsletter, so it collects very little about you. This page explains what it does collect and what third parties may do.
What Plainledger collects itself
The site does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail, and it does not set its own tracking cookies. The calculators and quizzes on the lessons run entirely in your browser. What you type or select is not sent anywhere.
Server logs
Like any website, the service that hosts Plainledger records basic technical data about each request, such as the page asked for, the time, your IP address and your browser type. This is used to run and secure the site and is handled under the hosting provider's own policy.
Advertising and cookies
Plainledger may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. Where ads are shown, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
Analytics
The site does not currently use an analytics service. If one is added, this page will be updated to name it and describe what it records before it is switched on.
Links to other sites
Lessons link to company filings and standards bodies. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which Plainledger does not control.
Children
The lessons are written for a general audience, and the site does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes what it collects, for example by adding analytics or a sign-up form, this page will be changed first. The date at the top shows when its content last changed.
